What is the anti-wear plate?
Anti-wear plate (also called anti-abrasive or anti-tear plate) is a metal material designed to resist extreme conditions of friction, impact and abrasion, much more than a conventional sheet. It is made of special steel with treatments that give it high hardness and long useful life.

Main characteristics of anti-wear steel sheets
The great differential of the anti-wear plate results from a combination of technical properties specifically designed for high-demand environments, where wear, impact and abrasion are constant. Knowing this type of sheet will help you choose the right quality for each application.
High Brinell hardness
It is measured on the Brinell scale (HBW). The most common grades range from 400 to 600 HB: 400 HB offers a balance between hardness and ease of machining, while 500-600 HB grades are stronger but less workable.
Abrasion and impact resistance
They withstand frictional wear (stones, minerals, aggregates, scrap metal, etc.) and repetitive shocks without degrading.
Durability
It multiplies the useful life compared to conventional sheets, reducing production stoppages, maintenance and replacement costs.
Weldability and machining
Some grades are weldable and can be cut by plasma, oxy-fuel or laser. The higher the hardness, the more difficult it is to machine.
Format versatility
It is produced in different thicknesses (3 mm up to 130 mm or more) and plate sizes, which allows it to adapt to multiple industries.

Not all applications demand the same thing. That's why wear plate is manufactured in different grades, each calibrated for a different level of hardness, weldability, and machinability capability. Can I order wear plate as a private individual?
Yes, Ferros Texar caters for individuals with specific conditions: standard sizes (3,000×1,500 mm and 2,000×1,000 mm), straight cut-to-length service (without bends) on sheets up to 6 mm. There is no bending, welding or on-site installations available. We advise you to contact us if you are interested in our anti-wear plates.
How long does delivery from Ferros Texar take?
As we have permanent stock in our warehouse in Lliçà de Vall (Barcelona), at Ferros Texar we deliver in 24-48 hours for all of Spain and the Balearic Islands, both in standard size and with cut-to-length (up to 6 mm, straight cuts).
Can the wear plate be welded?
Yes. The HB400 has very good weldability (preheating only in high thicknesses). The HB450 requires preheating from 20 mm. The HB500 is weldable with higher temperature control. Plasma, oxy-fuel or laser cutting is also feasible in all qualities.
What are the equivalents of the wear plate?
The best-known commercial names are HARDOX (SSAB), XAR (ThyssenKrupp) and AR (Abrasion Resistant). Raex, Creusabro or Everhard are also on the market. They are all Brinell high-hardness steels, with slight differences in composition and guarantees depending on the manufacturer.
