Cold Rolled Steel Sheet / Polished Sheet
DIMENSIONAL ACCURACY AND SUPERIOR FINISH FOR DEMANDING FORMING
This type of product is used in multiple fields of application within the industry due to its great versatility: the automotive industry, the manufacture of metal furniture, white goods, etc.
The most common cold rolled manufacturing process is the one that, starting from a hot-rolled coil, is stripped to obtain a surface cleaning that leaves it free of oxides and incrustations, then goes through a tandem train, where the thickness is reduced to the desired one.
The coils are then subjected to a heat treatment or annealing that can be continuous or bell-shaped, in order to regenerate the crystalline structure that was destroyed in the rolling process. Finally, the coils are subjected to a tempering process where the surface hardening and the final finish are achieved.
Application of steel sheets for drawing and cold
forming This type of materials are oriented to cold forming, so the characteristics of ductility and deformation prevail over their strength qualities.

What are the qualities of cold-rolled sheets?
Cold-rolled and polished sheets are materials that stand out for their precision, finish and versatility. Below, we detail their main qualities:
Tight tolerances
Thanks to the cold rolling process, these sheets have much more exact and uniform dimensions than hot-rolled ones. This makes them easier to handle and assemble.
Flatness
Cold-rolled sheets usually have excellent flatness, which is essential in many applications where a completely flat surface is required.
Good ductility
They can be deformed without breaking, making them easy to cold form to create complexly shaped parts.
Resistance
Although they are usually slightly less resistant than hot-rolled sheets, their strength is sufficient for many applications.
Weldability
They can be easily welded using various processes, such as arc welding or resistance welding.
Corrosion resistance
Depending on the type of steel used and the finish, they can offer good corrosion resistance, especially if they are galvanized or made of stainless steel.
Versatility
They are used in a wide range of applications, from construction to home appliance manufacturing.

We answer some questions about cold-rolled sheet metal or polished sheet metal
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between cold and hot rolled sheet?
Cold-rolled sheet is obtained by means of a cold-reduction process that gives it greater dimensional accuracy and a smoother surface. Hot-rolled sheet, on the other hand, is obtained at high temperatures and has a higher dimensional tolerance. In our blogpost "Cold-rolled steel vs. hot-rolled steel" we explain more difference between the two sheets.
What is a cold roll?
Cold-rolled steel is the steel that enters the hot-rolling process but continues to go through more transformations. When the steel cools, it goes through another process at room temperature, where it recrystallizes.
Which is better, cold rolled or hot?
Cold-rolled steel is usually up to 20% stronger than hot-rolled steel.
What is polishing used for sheet metal?
Both coating and polishing help each other to improve surface quality and increase the physical and mechanical properties of the part.
Can cold-rolled sheets be welded?
Cold-rolled steel can be welded. It is typically welded with an arc welder or through a resistance welding process.
