Hot-dip galvanized steels
DURABLE CORROSION PROTECTION FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR USE
Galvanized steels are coated with a layer of zinc or iron-zinc steel, applied through a continuous process of hot immersion, which provides these materials with excellent corrosion protection, as they add the galvanic action of zinc to the physical barrier of the coating itself.
These products are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Some of their main uses are: automotive, construction, household appliances, air conditioning equipment, etc.
The thickness of the zinc or iron-zinc layer can be from a minimum of 60g/m2 to a maximum of 700g/m2 and they are available in grades ranging from steels for drawing and forming, structural and high yield strength steels.

What are the qualities of galvanized steel?
The qualities of galvanized steel are many and that is why at Ferros Texar we are so committed to this durable, sustainable and solid material:
Corrosion resistance
The main quality of galvanized steel is its high resistance to corrosion. Zinc acts as a protective barrier, preventing oxygen and water from coming into contact with the steel and oxidizing it.
Durability
Galvanized steel is a highly durable material that can withstand harsh weather conditions without deteriorating.
Versatility
Galvanized steel can be used in a wide variety of applications, from construction to appliance manufacturing.
Recyclability
Galvanized steel is a 100% recyclable material.
Low maintenance
Galvanized steel does not require excessive maintenance, making it an economical option in the long run.
Applications of galvanized steel in Spain

Here are some questions about galvanized steel:
Frequently Asked Questions
What is galvanized steel and what is it used for?
Galvanized steel is a steel product coated with a layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion. Zinc is bonded to steel through a process called galvanizing, which can be done by different methods, such as hot dipping, electrolytic galvanizing, or thermal spraying. In one of our blog articles, we explain the different uses of galvanized steel and its main characteristics.
Which is better galvanized steel or stainless steel?
It depends on the application and the conditions of the environment where you are going to use it. Galvanized steel will give you very good results if you are going to use it in environments that are not extremely corrosive, because you will also achieve significant savings in production costs. Stainless steel, however, is more recommended for applications where corrosion resistance is critical, in aggressive or humid environments, and where long-term durability and aesthetic appearance are important. Although, in this case, the budget will be higher.
Why does galvanized steel rust?
Galvanized steel rusts primarily due to degradation of its protective zinc/zinc layer, either due to physical wear and tear, aggressive environmental conditions, or galvanic reactions. Once this layer is compromised, the underlying steel is exposed and can begin to rust.
In which areas is galvanized steel distributed?
There are many territories in which we have distributed our galvanized steel, with the areas of Valencia, the Basque Country or Zaragoza being the most frequented recently due to their potential in the metal sector. If you need information, please contact us if you need a partner like us.
